August 2009
AUGUST IS PET DENTAL HEALTH MONTH
85% of dogs and cats over one year of age have some degree of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can result in many other health problems such as bad breath, bleeding gums and tooth loss as well as heart valve disease & even kidney disease. Dental disease is THE most easily preventable disease in our pets.
We can perform scale and polish procedures much the same as you have when you visit your own dentist. Pets, of course, require general anaesthesia for this procedure – we cannot ask them to lie still with their mouths open!!
Once the teeth are scaled clean and polished, there is a vast array of home dental care products available from meat flavoured toothpastes, toothbrushes, prescription diets, gels and water additives all of which help prevent tartar & calculus from returning.
During August, Lamington Terrace Veterinary Surgery is promoting Dental Health and our qualified veterinary nurses are offering FREE DENTAL HEALTH CHECKS so if you are unsure about the state of your pet’s teeth, please phone for an appointment. The nurses can advise if any treatment is required and can show you a range of options for preventative dental care at home.
All pets who have a free dental check with one of our nurses and who then go on to have a dental scale and polish during August will receive 10% off the total cost.
This great offer is only valid during August so call us now on 5441 3333 to make an appointment.
