Surgery Goes Green!
We have recently commenced a program called EcoBiz which aims to reduce our carbon footprint. One of our major goals is to reduce waste going to landfill. To help do this we have started worm farms! One worm farm will devour our kitchen scraps and paper waste and another farm will help to compost dog poo and cat litter. The worm castings can be used as fertiliser around trees and shrubs in our garden.
We will be doing some experimenting with the worms eating the animal faeces to ensure that we do not kill the worms with faeces from pets that have been recently de-wormed!
We think that most of the products we sell here at the clinic should not affect the worms as they are mostly metabolised via the liver. Paul and Pene from Worms DownUnder have helped us start our worm farming venture!
